T-49 will be the longest tunnel of Indian Railways

  • Northern Railway has completed the excavation work of the country's longest tunnel Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project (USBRL).
  • Northern Railway has succeeded in joining the T-49 tunnel Katra-Banihal section in the country's longest rail tunnel.
  • T-49 is 12.758 km long and built on the Banihal-Qazigund section.
  • The 11.2 km long Pir Panjal tunnel will be the longest tunnel of the railways, leaving behind.
  • Railway has achieved a major milestone by implementing break-through of Tunnel T49 between Sumbar and Arpichala station on Katra-Banihal section.
  • The South Portal (SP) of Tunnel T-49 is located at the picturesque Sumbar village at a distance of 45 km from the district headquarter, at Ramban (Jammu and Kashmir) at an altitude of 1400 m,
  • The North Portal (NP) of the tunnel is located in the Mhow-Mangat valley near Arpichla village, Tehsil Khari, District Ramban at an altitude of about 1600 meters.
