National Maritime Day 2022

• National Maritime Day is observed every year on 5th April.

• This year the 59th Maritime Day is to be celebrated.

• World Maritime Day was celebrated for the first time in 1978.

• The theme of National Maritime Day 2022 is "Maritime Transport: Towards Smart and Green Solutions".

• Its aim is to promote inter-continental trade and the global economy.

• According to the Director General of Shipping, there are 43 shipping companies in India, they have a total of 1,401 ships.
