India-Japan Bilateral Security and Defense Cooperation



  • India and Japan agreed to promote bilateral security and defense cooperation, including defense manufacturing.
  • The two sides should work jointly to implement their decision of 5 trillion yen for public and private investment and financing from Japan to India over the next five years.
  • India emphasized the steps taken to improve ease of doing business and logistics through the 'Gati Shakti' initiative and urged Japan to increase Japanese investment in India.
  • Such investments will help in building a resilient supply chain and will be mutually beneficial.
  • India appreciated that Japanese companies are increasing their investment in India and 24 Japanese companies have successfully applied under various production related incentive schemes.
