Status Report of Inequality in India

• The report 'State of Inequality in India' was released by the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM).

• This report presents a comprehensive analysis of inequality in the country by providing a comprehensive analysis of the various ecosystems of scarcity, which have a direct impact on the welfare and overall development of the population.

• The report is divided into two sections – Economic Aspects and Socio-Economic Expressions, it examines five key areas that affect the nature and experience of inequality. 

• The five main areas are income distribution, labor market dynamics, health, education and household characteristics.

• The report is based on data from various phases of the Periodic Labor Force Survey (PLFS), the National Family and Health Survey (NFHS) and the United Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+).
