- Tokyo Olympian Deepak Punia won the bronze medal by defeating Maksat Satyabaldi (Kyrgyzstan) in the 86kg freestyle weight category at the U23 Asian Wrestling Championships 2022 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
- 23-year-old Punia lost to eventual gold medalist Azizbek Fayzullaev of Uzbekistan and Nurtilek Karypbaev of Kyrgyzstan.
- India won a total of 25 medals, including 10 gold medals, in the U23 meet in this event. The eight-day Continental Championships concluded.
