India's new ambassador to Bangladesh appointed

• Senior diplomat Pranay Verma has been appointed as the new High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh.

• This is considered an important appointment in view of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

• He is currently the Ambassador of India to Vietnam.

• He will replace Vikram Doraiswamy.

• Verma is a 1994 batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service.
