New Attorney General of India


  • Senior advocate R Venkataramani has been appointed as the new Attorney General of India for a period of three years.
  • The term of the current Attorney General is ending soon.
  •  Mukul Rohatgi had also recently turned down the government's offer to take up the post.
  • After this, now R Venkataramani has been appointed to this post.
  • Venugopal's term ends on September 30.
  • He served as the top law officer of the Center for five years.
  •  At the end of June this year, the tenure of AG Venugopal was extended by three months.
  •  This extension is set to expire on 30 September.
