- He is the 98th and current President of the Indian National Congress.
- He will replace Sonia Gandhi, who is the interim president of the Congress.
- He became the first non-Gandhi president of the Congress in the last 24 years.
- He was also the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha from 16 February 2021 to 1 October 2022.
- The Indian National Congress was established on 28 December 1885. Vyomesh Chandra Banerjee was the first President of Congress.
