Asia's First Hydrogen Train

  • China has become the second country to start hydrogen train.
  • It is the first train in Asia to run on hydrogen fuel. The world's first hydrogen train was launched in Germany.
  • The hydrogen train is made by Alstom in Germany. Alstom is a French rail transport company.
  • The fuel cells in this train generate energy by mixing hydrogen with oxygen and only water and steam come out in return.
  • This train can travel up to 1000 km in one go and has a maximum speed of 140 km/h.
  • All rail vehicles running on hydrogen fuel are known as hydels.
  • Only 1 kg of hydrogen is equivalent to about 4.5 kg of diesel.
