New President of Czech Republic

• Petr Pavel became the new President of the Czech Republic.

• Pavel has won the presidential election of the Czech Republic. Powell received over 58% of the vote.

• Powell defeated Andrej Babis. Pavel will replace President Milos Zeman. President Milos Zeman's second term ends in March.

• Powell is a former chairman of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Military Committee.

• Powell has been a supporter of the European Union and NATO.
