- Pankaj Kumar Singh has been appointed as Deputy National Security Advisor (NSA).
- He is a 1988 batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre. He retired as the Director General of BSF on December 31, 2022.
- He has been appointed as the Deputy NSA in the National Security Council Secretariat for a period of two years.
- Apart from BSF, he has also served in CRPF. He was instrumental in reducing cattle smuggling through the borders of West Bengal and Assam.
- His father, retired IPS officer Prakash Singh, also headed the BSF.
- Prakash Singh is considered a crusader of police reforms in the country.
