New President of Bangladesh

• Mohammad Shahabuddin will become the 22nd President of Bangladesh.

• Mohammad Shahabuddin Chuppu has been nominated as the next President of Bangladesh by the Awami League. 

• The Awami League has an absolute majority in Parliament (305 out of 350 seats).

• He will be elected unopposed and will succeed President Mohamed Abdul Hamid.

• Abdul Hamid is the longest serving President of Bangladesh and his term will end in April.
