- He succeeds Raninder Singh, who went on leave after serving for over 12 years as the NRAI President.
- Raninder served as the chairman from December 29, 2010 to December 29, 2022.
- The Sports Ministry has asked the NRAI to conduct the election for the post of president within the stipulated time frame.
