Ramon Magsaysay Award for Dalai Lama

  • In addition, the Dalai Lama signed a portrait of himself for the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation in the Philippines.
  • This was the first international award given to the Dalai Lama for community leadership in recognition of the valiant struggle of the Tibetan community in defense of the sacred Dharma.
  • The Dalai Lama is the title given to the foremost spiritual leader of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. The 14th and current Dalai Lama is Tenzin Gyatso.
