- The world's first robotic check-in assistant named Sarah has been unveiled by Dubai-based airline Emirates as its latest innovation.
- The system is part of the new City Check-in and Travel Store which is set to launch in Dubai's Financial District.
- SARA will use facial recognition technology to match customers' faces with scanned passports, provide check-in services and assist them in finding the baggage claim area.
- On 27 April, the facility was opened, allowing customers to drop off their luggage up to 24 hours before their flight and up to 4 hours before, so that they can arrive at the airport at their own leisure.
- Passengers can check-in with the help of Emirates agents at dedicated desks or with the help of Sarah.
- Sara is also portable and can move around to help people in need.
- Future iterations of Sarah will also have hands that can carry items.
