Commonwealth day 2023

• Commonwealth Day is celebrated in India every year on 24 May.

• It is celebrated in countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and the Americas, the Pacific and Europe.

• The theme for Commonwealth Day 2023 is "Forging a Sustainable and Peaceful Common Future".

• The first celebration of the day was held on May 24, 1902, to align with Queen Victoria's birthday.

• Initially it was celebrated as 'Empire Day' but in 1958 its name was changed to Commonwealth Day.
