First Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh

  • Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge appointed TS Singh Deo as the Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh.
  • TS Singh Deo is the first Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. He is also the present titular Maharaja of Surguja.
  • This appointment has been announced in the review meeting held to discuss the upcoming Chhattisgarh assembly elections.
  • At present there are deputy CMs in 11 states. Andhra Pradesh government has the highest number of deputy CMs (five).
  • Uttar Pradesh also has two deputy CMs – Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak.
  • Sushil Kumar Modi is the longest serving Deputy Chief Minister of India.
