New Director General of Geological Survey of India


  • Janardan Prasad has been appointed as the new Director General of the Geological Survey of India (GSI).
  • He took charge on June 1 in place of Dr. S. Raju, who has been holding the post since April 2022.
  • Janardan Prasad did his MSc in Geology from Patna University and joined GSI, Gandhinagar as Geologist in 1988.
  • He previously served as Additional Director General & Head of Department (ADG & HoD) of Southern Zone.
  • He was also the Chairman of the Technology-cum-Cost Committee (TCC), National Mineral Exploration Trust, New Delhi.
