New National Cyber Security Coordinator

• The government has appointed Lt Gen MU Nair as the new National Cyber Security Coordinator (NCSC).

• Lt Gen Nair was earlier appointed as the 28th Signal Officer-in-Chief in July 2022.

• This gave him experience and expertise in the areas of cyber warfare, signals intelligence and communication and information technology.

• He is the third cyber security chief after Lt Gen Pant and earlier chief Gulshan Rai.

• The NCSC is currently updating and replacing the 2013 National Cyber Security Strategy.
