• It is celebrated to promote the benefits of breastfeeding for both mother and child.

• The theme of World Breastfeeding Week 2023 is "Enabling Breastfeeding - Making a difference for working parents".

• World Breastfeeding Week was first started in 1992.

• In 2018, a resolution of the World Health Assembly endorsed World Breastfeeding Week as an important breastfeeding promotion strategy.
