- Over the years, India has declined from 81st position in 2015 to 40th in 2023.
- The index tracks the performance of 132 global economies in terms of innovation ecosystem performance.
- Switzerland has topped the ranking for the 13th consecutive year. Sweden and the United States are in second and third place respectively.
- The United Kingdom is at fourth position while Singapore is at fifth position.
- China is the only middle-income economy in the top 30.
- According to the Global Innovation Index 2023, India is one of the 21 economies that have performed better in innovation relative to their level of development for the 13th consecutive year.
- India, Iran, the Philippines, Turkey, Vietnam and Indonesia are among the top 65 countries that have risen the fastest in the rankings over the past decade.
