R Madhavan has been appointed as the new President of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Society


  • The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has decided to appoint actor R Madhavan as the President and Governing Council of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Society.
  • Shekhar Kapur's tenure as Chairman of FTII Society ended on March 3, 2023.
  • There are 12 Nominees in FTII Society. It is headed by a chairperson.
  • Of the 12 nominees, eight are nominated under the 'Eminent Persons' category and four are selected from among FTII alumni.
  • Madhavan is a famous actor who has acted in many superhit films like '3 Idiots', 'Tanu Weds Manu' and 'Rang De Basanti'.
  • He also made his directorial debut with 'Rocketry: The Nambi Effect'. The film won the Best Feature Film award at the 69th National Awards.
