• Raunak Sadhwani has won the FIDE World Junior Rapid Chess Championship 2023.

• He is the youngest Grandmaster from Maharashtra. He emerged as the U-20 World Junior Rapid Chess Champion in Italy.

• The 11-round rapid tournament was organized by the World Chess Federation (FIDE).

• Raunak lost to FM Robert Piliposyan (Armenia) and IM Constantin Pairer (Austria) in the second and fifth rounds.

• Raunak won eight rounds and lost two to earn 8.5 points and become the World Junior Rapid Champion.

• Raunak emerged victorious in the decisive match against Tobias Koele.

• Tobias Koele led the competition for most of the event.
