- He will be the Joint Director of CBI for five years from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
- This appointment has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
- Earlier, Praveen Sood was appointed as the Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for two years.
- The CBI Director is appointed for a fixed tenure of two years by a committee including the Prime Minister, the CJI and the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
