The first full-fledged girls' military school

  • Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated India's first all-girl Sainik School in Vrindavan in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Samvid Gurukulam Girls Sainik School has been opened under the initiative to open 100 new Sainik Schools in partnership mode with NGOs/Private/State Government schools in all States/UTs.
  • Training will be given by ex-servicemen in CBSE affiliated schools. It has approximately 870 students.
  • The Defense Ministry approved the admission of girls in Sainik Schools from the 2021-22 academic session.
  • This decision was taken after the success of the pilot project started by the Defense Ministry at Sainik School in Chhingchhip, Mizoram.
  • The main objective behind opening 100 new Sainik Schools is to provide quality education to the students in line with the National Education Policy (NEP).
  • The inspiration for the establishment of Sainik Schools came from the Royal Indian Military College (RIMC) and the Royal Indian Military Schools.
