Yemen's new Prime Minister

  • Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council appointed Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak as the new Prime Minister.
  • He replaces Maain Abdulmalik Saeed, who will assume the role of advisor to the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council.
  • Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak was also nominated as Yemen's representative to the United Nations in 2018. He also served as the Foreign Minister of Yemen since 2020.
  • Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak made news in 2015 when he was kidnapped by the Houthis while serving as Yemen's presidential chief of staff.
