- Retired judge Sanjay Kumar Mishra has been appointed as the chairman of the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT).
- The purpose of the tribunal is to help businesses resolve various disputes efficiently.
- The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment on the basis of the recommendation of the SCSC (Search-cum-Selection Committee).
- He has been appointed for four years at a salary of Rs 2.50 lakh per month.
- He will hold the post for four years or till he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.
