- Indian Navy's indigenous stealth frigate INS Shivalik arrived at Yokosuka, Japan and participated in the bilateral Japan-India Maritime Exercise 2024 (JIMEX - 24).
- This is the eighth edition of JIMEX - 24, which began in 2012.
- Japan is being represented by the Guided Missile Destroyer, JS Yugiri.
- The exercise includes both harbour and sea phases. The harbour phase will conduct commercial, sports and social interactions.
- The navies of the two countries will showcase their combat skills at sea and improve their interoperability through complex multi-disciplinary operations in surface, sub-surface and air domains.
