New chairman of Central Board of Direct Taxes

• Ravi Agrawal became the new chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).

• He replaced Nitin Gupta, whose term ended on June 30.

• In June 2022, Nitin Gupta was appointed chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes.

• Earlier, Ravi Agrawal was serving as Member (Administration) in the CBDT board.

• The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has said that Ravi Agrawal will remain the CBDT chief till June 2025.
