New CMD of BSNL

• The government has appointed Robert Gerard Ravi as the new Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) from July 15.

• At the same time, an extension has been denied to the outgoing PK Purwar, who was serving as the CMD of BSNL and MTNL since July 2019.

• This will be Ravi's second term at BSNL.

• Earlier, he had served as Additional General Manager in the state-run firm for about six years.
