- Yamini Krishnamurthy was born on December 20, 1940 in Madanapalle in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.
- Yamini Krishnamurthy also trained in Carnatic singing and veena.
- She was awarded the Padma Shri in 1968, the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2016.
- She was also awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1977.
