Jordan's new prime minister

  • King Abdullah II of Jordan appointed Jafar Hassan as Prime Minister of Jordan.
  • The Islamic Action Front (IAF) won 31 of the 138 seats, making it the largest party in the elected lower house of parliament.
  • Following the parliamentary election, Hassan was charged with forming a government.
  • He served as Minister of Planning before becoming Chief of Staff to King Abdullah II.
