- On September 8, veteran sports administrator Randhir Singh was unanimously elected president of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) at its 44th General Assembly.
- Singh is the first Indian to become the full-time president of the continental body. He will hold the top post for four years.
- He was the OCA's secretary general from 1991 to 2015 - the post has now been abolished - and thereafter its life vice-president till 2021.
