• 54-year-old Amarasuriya is the third woman Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.

• She is active in Sri Lankan politics as the leader of the National People's Power (NPP).

• She did her graduation in Sociology from Delhi's prestigious Hindu College between 1991-1994.
