International Film Festival

• The International Film Festival and Environment and Wildlife Forum, ‘Vatavaran’ was inaugurated in New Delhi on 3 October.

• The theme of the three-day film festival is “Wetlands for Life”, which focuses on awareness and conservation of the wetlands ecosystem.

• Wetlands are very important for India due to their ecological and economic benefits.

• About 6% of Indians are directly dependent on wetlands for their livelihood, making their conservation even more important.
