New Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir

  • Omar Abdullah took oath as the Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on 16 October 2024.
  • Omar Abdullah is the leader of the National Conference.
  • He was administered the oath along with his council of ministers by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre in Srinagar.
  • The last assembly election to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held in 2014.
  • In the recently held elections, his party secured 42 out of 90 assembly seats.
