- Luong Cuong is a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and a permanent member of the CPV Central Committee Secretariat.
- On October 21, Cuong was elected president for a term until 2026 at the ongoing 8th session of the 15th term National Assembly (NA).
- All 440 delegates present at the meeting, which was 91.67% of the total number of NA delegates, voted in favour.
- Cuong replaced Toh Lam, who was formally appointed general secretary of the ruling Communist Party in August.
