Rule of Law Index 2024

• The Rule of Law Index 2024 has been released by the World Justice Project (WJP).

• Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Germany are the top five countries in this index.

• The Rule of Law Index ranks countries based on eight indicators.

• On the Restrictions on Government Powers indicator, India ranked 60th out of 142 countries.

• On the indicator of open government, India ranked 44th out of 142 countries.

• India has performed poorly in protection of fundamental rights (102/142), order and security of people (98/142) and efficiency of criminal justice (82/142).
