  • This was the first time New Zealand won either the men's or women's World Cup title.
  • Chasing the target of 159 runs given by New Zealand, South Africa scored 126 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated twenty overs.
  • Amelia Kerr was named Player of the Series and Player of the Match.
  • Earlier, New Zealand played the finals in 2009 and 2010 but failed to cross the final hurdle.
