- Renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha, popularly known as the Nightingale of Bihar, died on November 5 at the age of 72.
- She died of refractory shock due to septicemia at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
- Sharda Sinha's illustrious career since the 1970s has given national recognition to Bhojpuri, Maithili and Hindi folk music.
- She has sung many folk songs including "Vivaah Geet", and "Chhath Geet".
- She was awarded the Padma Shri award in 1991 and the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian award, in 2018 for her contribution to music.
