National Press Day 2024

• National Press Day is observed every year on 16 November to commemorate the establishment of the Press Council of India (PCI) in 1966.

• The day is celebrated to recognize the importance of free and responsible press in a democratic society.

• The theme of National Press Day 2024 is “The Changing Nature of the Press”.

• The Press Council of India was constituted on 4 July 1966 on the recommendations of the First Press Commission.
