- During the 29th session of the Conference of State Parties (CSP) of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), the 2024 OPCW Hague Prize was awarded to the Indian Chemical Council (ICC).
- The event was attended by chemical industry stakeholders and experts from across the world.
- This is the first time that the Prize has recognised the efforts of a chemical industry body.
- The Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) came into force in 1997. It currently has 193 members.
- The OPCW received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2013 for its comprehensive efforts to eliminate chemical weapons.
