Justice Krishnan Vinod Chandran appointed as new Judge of Supreme Court

  • On January 16, Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna administered the oath of office to Justice Krishnan Vinod Chandran, the new Supreme Court judge.
  • Justice Chandran was earlier the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.
  • His appointment takes the number of judicial members in the Supreme Court to 33, one less than the full sanctioned strength.
  • On January 7, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended Justice Chandran to the Central Government for appointment as a Supreme Court judge.
