Multilateral Exercise, La Perouse

  • La Perouse, a multilateral exercise, was hosted by France.
  • Navigations from nine Indo-Pacific countries took part in the exercise.
  • The exercise was conducted in the strategically important Malacca, Sunda and Lombok Straits between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.
  • Indian Navy's INS Mumbai has been deployed for the exercise. The exercise was led by the French Carrier Strike Group (CSG) headed by the carrier Charles de Gaulle.
  • The Malacca, Sunda and Lombok Straits are the entry and exit to the Indian Ocean region.
  • Australia, Canada, France, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the U.K. and the U.S. participated in the exercise.
