New Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation

  • Donald Trump has appointed Indian-American Kash Patel as the 9th Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
  • Kash Patel was born in 1980 in Garden City, New York.
  • His parents belong to Gujarat, his mother is from Tanzania and father is from Uganda.
  • He studied law and began his career in the US Department of Justice during the Obama administration.
  • In the Trump administration, he has served as Chief of Staff of the Department of Defense, Deputy Director of National Intelligence, and Senior Director for Counterterrorism at the National Security Council.
  • He is the first Indian-American to become the director of the FBI.
  • On February 20, 2025, the Senate (the upper house of the United States Congress) approved his appointment by a vote of 51–49.
