- The Government of India has launched Operation Brahma to support rescue operations in response to the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar and Thailand on 28 March.
- A specialist rescue unit of the 50 (I) Para Brigade of the Indian Army was swiftly dispatched to Myanmar.
- Two C-17 aircraft carrying a 118-member Indian Army Field Hospital unit and 60 tonnes of relief material including women and child care services have landed in Myanmar.
- Under Operation Brahma, NDRF teams have launched rescue operations by evacuating 170 monks stranded at the ‘U Hla Thein’ Monastery in Myanmar.
- Rescue efforts have also been extended to Sky Villa and relief material will be distributed to 2000 unharmed monks without basic amenities.
