  • India retained the SAFF Under-19 Championship title by defeating Bangladesh 4-3 in a dramatic penalty shootout.
  • The final was played at the Golden Jubilee Stadium and ended in a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation time.
  • Captain Singamayum Shami gave India the lead in the second minute itself.
  • He scored from a long-range free-kick which eluded the goalkeeper despite a finger touch.
  • India dominated the opening minutes with sharp passes and strong wing play.
  • Omang Dodum came close to doubling the lead in the 16th minute.
  • However, Bangladesh goalkeeper Mohammad Ismail Hossain Mahin made crucial saves.
  • In the 61st minute, Md Joy Ahmed scored the equaliser from a corner kick.
  • The final was eventually decided by a penalty shootout.
