World Football Day, 2025

• In 2024, a resolution was passed by the United Nations General Assembly declaring May 25 of each year as World Football Day.

• The resolution acknowledged the global reach of football and its impact across various regions.

• It also recognises the role of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) as well as regional and national football federations in promoting the game of football.

• The year 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the first international football tournament in history with representation from all regions.
