Energy Transition Index, 2025

  • India has dropped to 71st place in the 2025 Energy Transition Index.
  • It has declined from 63rd rank last year. Sweden ranks first globally.
  • It is followed by Finland, Denmark, Norway and Switzerland in the top five.
  • China is ranked 12th. The US is ranked 17th. Pakistan is ranked 101st.
  • India has made strong progress in energy efficiency. It has also improved its ability to attract energy investment.
  • Among the large economies, India and China showed the most progress. They improved energy availability and readiness for transition.
