International Olympic Day

• International Olympic Day is celebrated every year on 23 June.

• This day marks the anniversary of the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894.

• The aim of this day is to promote participation in sports around the world.

• The theme of Olympic Day is Let's Move.

• At the time of the 41st Session of the International Olympic Committee in Stockholm in 1947, Dr. Grus, IOC member in Czechoslovakia, gave a report on the World Olympic Day celebrations.

• The first Olympic Day was celebrated on 23 June 1948.
